How can I involve my collaborators so that they are truly motivated to Lean Production and actively participate in the improvement of the industrial output?
Being in charge of operations is a tough job; you personally answer for workers and facilities. It is fundamental to maintain performance as productive and qualitative as possible and at the same time, to work towards future challenges which will come up.
Often we feel we are being judged by a CEO or by the ownership; we must always stand tall...
Much stress, many worries and often it is not possible to tell others what we are really thinking.
In this role at times, you feel like you need a friendly watchful eye and helping hand, an expert but neutral outside opinion, in order to find confirmation or suggestions, on the work you are carrying out or intend to carry out.
It is with the intent of bringing an external unbiased point of view to the head of operations, that I have decided to dedicate 2 hours each week to visiting a company.
Through this visit, you will have privileged access to my experience of over twenty years in the field of changing the mentality of the company towards Lean Manufacturing.
The visit must be informal and not publicized; my interest is in weaving relationships which one day will be useful in making the Kaizen Coach method of approach to Lean Manufacturing known.
Possible unfolding of the visit
The visit could unfold with an initial meeting, in your office, here we could get to know one another and have a calm exchange regarding your situation; then, at a later time, if you believe possible, we could go see an area of production which you would consider interesting to visit with me.
During the visit, I would be able to carefully listen to your intentions and ideas regarding the current projects and those which you are working on for the future. I will try to give my opinion and advice based on my professional experience.
The benefits of the visit could be:
- Finding the starting point which can give more results and on which to immediately work.
- Exchanging opinions on the opportunities in using a specific method.
- Having a comparison on how to refine the technique which can be seen in action.
- Evaluating together with me the possible solutions to a hassling problem.
- Getting a point of view from an outsider to your world.
This visit is not:
- An attempt at selling consultations.
- A demonstration of my skills
- Industrial espionage.
The visit is “priceless” (in cost) for you; my interest in offering this help, resides in presenting myself and in the advantages resulting from weaving a relationship, which perhaps one day, will be advantageous to me.
Due to a very tight work schedule, availability for these company visits is limited.
